Matisse MM13 Fabric Fixative when mixed in equal parts with Matisse Colours produces a fabric paint which when heat set will adhere to most fabrics.  This Fabric Fixative is a great idea for the all-round artist. A way in which, if you feel like painting on fabric and making it last, you need not buy a whole range of fabric paints. MM13 when mixed with Matisse Colours, preferably Flow Formula, will become permanent on T-shirts or most other garments after heat fixing. In a 250ml Bottle. To use Derivan Matisse MM13 Fabric Fixative, mix one part fixative with one to two parts Matisse acrylic paint, apply to fabric, let dry for at least 24 hours, then heat-set with an iron on the hottest setting for about three minutes to make it permanent. For heat-setting, iron on the reverse side or place a tea towel over the design to protect it from direct contact with the iron.

How to use Derivan Matisse MM13 Fabric Fixative:

1. Prepare your fabric: Ensure the fabric is clean and dry. Avoid very absorbent fabrics like uncleaned wool or waterproof materials.
2. Mix the paint: Combine the MM13 Fabric Fixative with your chosen Matisse acrylic paint.

1. • Ratio: Use one part fixative to one or two parts paint, depending on the desired consistency and thickness.

1. • Consistency: Mix thoroughly. For a thicker consistency that reduces bleeding, use more paint or Structure Formula; for a smoother finish, use Flow Formula.

1. Apply the paint: Apply the mixture to the fabric using a brush, airbrush, sponge, or screen.

1. • Avoid: Avoid creating thick, textured spots, which may crack.

1. • Caution: Be cautious with stretchy synthetic fabrics.

1. Let the paint dry: Allow the painted area to dry completely. Drying time can be 2-5 hours, but it’s best to wait up to 24 hours before heat-fixing for maximum permanence.
2. Heat-set the design: Once completely dry, heat-set the paint to make it permanent.

1. • Set your iron to its hottest setting, without steam.

1. • Place a clean, dry tea towel or piece of cloth over the painted design, or iron on the reverse side of the fabric.

1. • Iron for approximately three minutes, keeping the iron moving to prevent scorching.

1. Clean up: While the paint and fixative are still wet, clean your brushes and tools with soap and water.
