A long point sharpener is used for creating an extra-long, slender tip on a pencil, which is ideal for detailed drawing, sketching, and technical illustration. The long point provides more control and precision for fine linework compared to a standard hand held sharpener. Most long point sharpeners use a two-stage process, where one hole sharpens the wood and a second hole sharpens the lead. This is not the case with the Kent Art Sharpener. The process is carried out in a single operation, with an automatic brake to prevent over-sharpening.
