The Jacquard Marbling Kit is used for the ancient art of paper marbling and has historically been associated with the book arts. The technique involves floating paints on the surface of a gel like medium (known as the “marbling size”) and then transferring this floating design onto paper or fabric. Use this traditional technique to make your own patterned fabric, one-of-a-kind wrapping paper, greeting cards fine art and more. Each design is as unique as a fingerprint. This kit contains marbling colours in applicator bottles, Carageenan, Synthetic Gall and easy to follow instructions.

Use the kit to float specialized paints on a gel-like water bath to create swirling, fingerprint-unique patterns. Transfer them onto absorbent surfaces like paper, fabric, or even ceramics.

How it works:

Mix the provided carrageenan (a natural seaweed thickener) with water to create the surface medium (or “size”). Drop the vibrant paints directly onto this surface and use the synthetic gall (surfactant) or tools like combs to manipulate the colours. Absorb and transfer the design by laying a pre-treated sheet of paper or fabric on top.
