It is used in delicate cutting procedures along with the No.10 blade that has a curved cutting edge. Handles and blades sold separately.
Common Art Uses for Scalpel Handle No.3 and Blades:
- Paper Crafting & Stencilling: Ideal for creating intricate paper-cut art, silhouettes, and precise stencils for painting or spray work.
- Model Making: Used in architectural or hobby modelling to trim materials like foam board, thin plastics, cork, and balsa wood.
- Graphic Design & Collages: Perfect for cutting fine details in paper, film, or masking tape, and for cutting complex layouts in vinyl.
- Fine Detail Work: The thin, sharp blade allows for cutting tight curves and corners that are not possible with larger hobby knives.
- Tool Modification: Often used to carve or shave down softer materials such as eraser blocks for stamp making or rubber moulds.
Compatible Blades and Their Uses
- #11 Blade (Elongated Triangular): The most popular blade for precision work, featuring a sharp, pointed tip perfect for delicate, fine-point cutting.
- #10 Blade (Curved Edge): Used for more general, straight-line cutting and shaving in modelling.
- #10A Blade (Straight Edge): Preferred for making straight-edged cuts in card or veneer.
Always use a self-healing cutting mat and cut away from yourself to ensure safety.
