The remeshing of a silk screens can prove difficult depending on the frame. Older oak frames may be re-meshed by first removing the old mesh and staples. It is then necessary to cut and stretch new mesh across the frame using either a cord and groove method or by stapling. Finally trim the excess material. The key to success is achieving even tension across the new mesh to prevent ripples and ensure quality printing. The difficulty lies with new metal frames where stapling is not required or possible. Even tension must be kept across the mesh as it is glued down. It is much easier to let a professional do it.
