The Neef Series 4600 Squirrel Mixed Oval Brush consists of TAKLON for point and spring, SQUIRREL for colour carrying capacity. This mix gives a superb brush. Traditionally watercolour artists have used brushes made from squirrel, however the hair is expensive.  This hair is a lot lighter than the taklon so the actual hair volume for the squirrel component seems much greater. Squirrel retains lots of water and when combined with taklon it makes a perfectly affordable watercolour brush.

The brush is a specialized brush primarily used for watercolour and gouache painting. It is designed as an oval pointed wash (or “sky” brush), featuring a unique blend of natural blue squirrel hair and synthetic taklon. Other Mop brushes available.

Use the Neef 4600 Squirrel Mixed brush for a variety of fluid painting techniques:

• Large Washes: The squirrel hair holds massive amounts of water, making it perfect for covering large areas. Use such as skies or background gradients, smoothly.
• Controlled Detail: The synthetic taklon fibres retains the shape of the brush and offers a fine point. This allows you to transition from broad washes to precise strokes.
• Feathering & Blending: Blend edges without damaging the paper.
