Description
Molotow Art Masking Fluid liquid pens provide removable masking without leaving residue. They are ideal for a range of applications from traditional watercolour work to design based work using markers or pens. They are particularly good for watercolours, to preserve areas of the paper that need to remain white or untouched by paint. The pen allows you to draw or apply the fluid with more precision than traditional brushes. This makes it easier to create highlights, fine lines, or other details without carefully painting around them. Once the paint is dry, the fluid can be rubbed off to reveal the white paper beneath. Available in two sizes 4mm and 2mm and they also refillable. For larger quantities we have NAM Masking fluid in 100ml, 250ml and 500ml.
What they are used for:
- Preserving white areas: Masking fluid is a liquid that dries to a rubbery consistency. This protects the paper underneath so that the white of the paper can be used as highlight or white space.
- Applying fine details: The pen format allows for precise application, which is ideal for creating thin lines, sharp details, or small features.
- Protecting from staining: Apply over dry paint to protect it from new colours, preventing staining or unwanted mixing.
- Creating effects: You can use them to create patterns or protect areas while painting a blurry background around a specific subject
How they work:
- Apply the fluid: Use the pen to draw or apply the masking fluid onto the areas of the paper you want to protect.
- Let it dry: Allow the fluid to dry completely. Some fluids are a milky colour when wet and become more transparent as they dry.
- Paint over it: Once the fluid is dry, you can paint over it just as you would the rest of the paper.
- Remove the fluid: Make sure the paint is completely dry. Then gently rub the dried masking fluid with your finger, a rubber pickup, or a cotton rag to remove it. This will reveal the white paper underneath.
