Etching Felt Blankets 1.5mm and 3mm are the most commonly used thicknesses with an Etching Press. A 6mm blanket is often used in conjunction with the thinner type blanket.

Felt size 500mm x 900mm. The blankets protect the paper when passing through the Etching press.

Using Etching felt blankets in printmaking provide a cushioning effect and evenly distribute pressure on paper when creating a print.  They are typically used in sets of two, each serving a different function in the printmaking process. They are primarily used to protect the plate, provide a uniform cushion, and provide friction to push the paper and plate through the press. Using the blankets in both the etching process and block printing techniques, ensures the ink is transferred crisply onto the paper’s texture.
