Often called ‘Fluro’ the paint is highly vibrant and semi-transparent made by blending synthetic fluorescent dyes with a resin. It looks incredibly bright in natural light but truly comes to life under UV or black lights.

How to Use Derivan Student Fluorescent Acrylic:

• Prime Your Surface: The paints are semi-transparent and perform best when applied over a white base or light background. This then reflects the light and makes the colours pop. Painting over dark surfaces will mute the fluorescent effect.
• Build Up Layers: Coverage is light, so you will need to apply multiple thin coats to achieve deep, solid colour.
• Mix with Mediums: For glazing thin it out or mix it with standard acrylic mediums (like gels) to alter its texture. It is however best to avoid adding standard “thickness” mediums directly.
• Dry Time: It typically dries to the touch in 1–3 hours, depending on the weather.

What It is Good For

• UV Light Art: The paint absorbs UV rays and re-emits them as visible light. It is phenomenal for creating glowing nightclub art, glow-in-the-dark posters and/or rave and festival gear.
• Miniatures and Models: Widely used by hobbyists for Object Source Lighting (OSL) effects on tabletop miniatures. Simulate magic, plasma guns, fire, or glowing toxic elements.
• Vibrant Undertones: Use it as a glowing base layer under traditional acrylics to make the top colours stand out.
